Stormglass in crystal form

Small star-like crystals in the cloudy liquid are said to indicate an approaching thunderstorm. Large flakes may suggest overcast weather in summer and snow in winter, while tiny dots are associated with fog or high humidity. In winter, a higher level of crystals is traditionally interpreted as a sign of stronger frost. This storm glass is made in a crystal-shaped sealed vessel. The exact mechanism behind storm glass behavior remains a subject of debate.
